The drawer plugs into the RJ11 port on the back of the receipt printer, not into the computer. When the receipt prints, the drawer pops, which is what ties the cash to a recorded sale.
The key override matters more in Kenya than the specification sheet suggests: when the power goes, the drawer still has to open.
